UPDATE:
Has TIME, FORTIS or ASSURANT Denied Your Health Insurance Claim?

Unfortunately you may be one of thousands of Time, Fortis, and Assurant health insurance customers who were denied coverage through a questionable rescission policy.

Time Insurance, formally known as Fortis and also know as Assurant Health, is a Milwaukee-based health insurance company primarily known for writing individual health insurance policies for people who do not qualify for group health insurance plans through their employers. The company also provides short-term health insurance plans. These plans are meant to last up to six months and are typically marketed to people who are inbetween jobs.

Health Insurance Bad Faith Report
Through 2009 and 2010 Time, Fortis, and Assurant Health have been sued for breach of contract and insurance bad faith. Plaintiffs’ attorneys have successfully settled many of these insurance bad faith cases out of court. Insurance bad faith cases are brought against insurance companies who fail to do some or all of the following things:

  • Failure to investigate a health insurance claim
  • Refusing to settle a health insurance claim
  • Unreasonable translation of the health insurance policy
  • Failure to reimburse you according to the health insurance policy limits
  • Delay of payment
  • Unreasonable denial of a health insurance claim

Time and Assurant Health have been fined millions of dollars by state insurance regulators for improperly denying or rescinding hundreds of health insurance claims.

Are you someone who has had your Time, Fortis, or Assurant Health Insurance claim denied?

Your claim may have been one of nearly 8,500 Assurant Health Insurance claims rescinded. The health insurance companies claim these denials are made as a result of customers knowingly failing to completely disclose all health history information on their applications. But the insurance company must prove that what you left off your application you did so intentionally. It must be proven that you knowingly and intentionally put incorrect information on your insurance application to have your claim denied – not because you forgot about a seemingly insignificant doctor visit or medical treatment.

If you were denied your health insurance benefits or your benefits were rescinded, contact our insurance bad faith law firm today. In some states, such as Colorado, your health insurance benefits can only be rescinded through the policyholder’s consent or a court order.

A health insurance company cannot intimidate you or force you to rescind your own health insurance policy. Depending upon the circumstances of your Time or Assurant Health Insurance claim denial, you may be able to recover financial compensation and damages.
